Night had long since fallen. Pitch darkness enveloped Celestic Town, and most residents were fast asleep at the time. The only things that dared to be awake at a time like this were nocturnal Pokemon, the passing traveler, and those who were up to no good. [break][break]
Somehow, Dione found herself somewhere in the middle of the three. She had snuck way from home about half an hour ago. She'd made sure to place a pile of pillows underneath her futon's blanket to give the illusion that she was still there, soundly asleep, were anyone to bother to check up on her. [break][break]
From there, the young miko had silently made her way to the outskirts of the town. The night was unusually cold and the bitter winds bit at Dione's skin as if to reprimand her for what she was about to do. She exhaled and shuddered. She could hardly see the condensation of her breath; it was so dark. She'd never been out so late. [break][break]
Dione turned back from her position. She could see Celestic Town, her home town, the only town she'd truly known, in the distance. [break][break]
Could she really abandon it like this? [break][break]
"No, stay focused," Dione hissed to herself silently. She shook her head vigorously to dissuade herself from second-guessing, "I must get to the rendezvous point..." [break][break]
This would likely be her only chance to leave. To escape her mundane existence. To find a new, meaningful life elsewhere. And perhaps, her only chance to be a part of a new world. [break][break]
She trembled for a moment, then let out a long sigh. Onward. [break][break]
There was tall grass everywhere. Each step she took was laborious. Dione needed to make sure she didn't stir up any wild Pokemon. She needed to make there it safe without any disturbances. [break][break]
She had just made it through a long row of grass when she felt a cold chill near her shoulder. It was an eerie yet familiar feeling. She could sense the aura of a familiar life force. [break][break]
"Melinoe?" [break][break]
Dione stopped walking and turned over her shoulder. A dark violet specter hovered at her side. It was a Misdreavus. It was smiling. [break][break]
"Oh, Melinoe," Dione sighed, a distressed look contorting her usually delicate features, "I told you, you've got to stay here. This area is your home, is it not? Coming with me won't do you any good, dear," she insisted. [break][break]
But the Ghost-type shook her head. It floated over and clung to Dione's side. It wanted to stay at her side. [break][break]
Dione frowned and she could feel hot tears begin to well up in her eyes, "But why? All you've ever done is protect me, and I haven't reciprocated." [break][break]
Melione shook her head once more and continued to cling on closely. It seemed to truly care about Dione. The girl in question pulled the Pokemon in close, embracing it. Her tears rolled down her cheeks. [break][break]
"Fine, you can come. But please, promise me you won't get hurt, okay?" Dione softly cried. [break][break]
She eventually let go and stood up tall. [break][break]
"We haven't much time, Melinoe. Let's get to it," said Dione, her tone hopeful. [break][break]
The two hurried forward, following a trail that lead into Route 210. [break][break]
When she was first approached by the mysterious Neo Galactic member, she was told to meet them at a honey-glazed tree at night within the route. She found the distinctive yellow-leaved tree, and waited there. [break][break]
She didn't wait long. She heard approaching footsteps, and saw a body of light. [break][break]
A man riding a Rapidash approached Dione and Melinoe. They stopped right before the purple-haired girl. The man held out a hand, offering his assistance to help her mount the Rapidash. But in that same hand was a "G" shaped pendant. The Neo Galactic insignia. [break][break]
"You wanted to live a new life, didn't you? This is your opportunity," he began, "you just need to affirm your undivided loyalty to the organization. Do you pledge your allegiance to Team Neo Galactic?" [break][break]
Dione hesitated. She'd heard about the alleged horrors of the group's predecessors. They'd given her a promising offer, but could she really go through with this? Would the spirits of the ancient Pokemon who watched over her be pleased with such a decision? [break][break]
Melinoe chirped and nudged Dione forward. [break][break]
"A-Ah," The girl muttered. "I'd like to have an opportunity to live a new life. If you promise that this "Neo Galactic" can provide that for me... then... yes." [break][break]
