Dahlia Althea
>>NAME: Dahlia Althea
>>ALIASES: The Alchemist of Veilstone City
>>GENDER: Female
>>AGE: 24
>>HEIGHT: 5'8"
>>WEIGHT:
>>APPEARANCE: Standing at about 5'8", Dahlia is a somewhat tall woman, but not necessarily enough to stand out. She has long dark-green hair that, aside from washing it every day, she very rarely does anything with, and brown eyes. Because she rarely gets a full night's sleep, she almost constantly has bags under her eyes, though she still manages to function well enough despite this; if it gets serious enough, she can and will lie down for a nap.
She has a slender but, for the most part, healthy body; if nothing else, she's careful to make sure she at least eats properly. That said, while she does make sure to maintain a healthy diet, she doesn't get much in the way of exercise, so she is still a bit out of shape. As for her attire, she's constantly wearing a lab coat of some kind, with her old med school uniform underneath it (she keeps it because it's comfortable).
Though it can be hard to tell due to how bulky her coat tends to be, she's actually rather nicely endowed, sporting a C-cup.
>>PERSONALITY: Dahlia is, for the most part, a friendly individual who enjoys helping others to the point that she dedicates her life to it. Being a licensed pharmacist, she devotes much of her free time to studying medicine and experimenting to find ways to both create new ones and improve upon those that already exist. All in all, it fascinates her to no end, and she knows she still has much to learn, which thrills her to no end.
To this end, she is also a huge fan of Poison-types, as they are a vital source of the venoms she uses to do the aforementioned studies into medicine, to the point that she's more or less become an expert on the Type in general. Of course, given the nature of most Poison-types, it's not uncommon for her love of them to come off as a bit creepy, especially if one doesn't know the full reason as to why she's so fascinated with them.
That said, she doesn't really mind this, and is always more than happy to explain how beneficial they are in the field of medicine. Her strange interests and general appearance can make her seem a bit on the shady side, but those who find the courage to do so often find that she's a surprisingly pleasant person to be around. Still bit strange; there's no denying that, but all in all a decent human being.
Lastly, she is fairly open with her sexuality, not really caring one way or the other whether anyone knows she has a preference for the ladies. That said, she's not really looking for any relationships at the moment, as she's well aware that her focus on her studies and/or tastes in Pokemon (which she admits to understanding why they could be a turn-off) could potentially cause tension between her and any would-be partners.
In short, she's not sure if she could handle it emotionally. If course, if she actually were to meet someone who a) strikes her fancy and b) genuinely doesn't mind her eccentricities, then she would be more than willing to give it a go. She wouldn't really have any idea of what the heck she's doing, but she'd be no less willing.
>>HISTORY: Dahlia was born and raised in Castelia City, the center of business in the Unova Region, to a pair of people both in the medical field; her father a well known and highly skilled surgeon, and her mother being one of the Region's leading pharmacists in her prime. Despite being fairly busy, they both managed to find time to lovingly raise Dahlia and provide her with a happy childhood, able to easily get her anything she ever needed.
Although both of her parents came from a long line of people in the medical field, the two of them had no intentions of forcing their daughter to follow in their footsteps; regardless of the path she chose, they would have supported her to the best of their ability, just as their parents had offered to do for them. As it turned out, this wasn't necessary, as she still developed an interest in medicine on her own.
Taking a shine to her mother's work as a pharmacist, Dahlia began learning from her at a young age. When she wasn't working on her normal studies at school, Dahlia's mother would teach her all she knew about the pharmaceutical field, while her father, reluctantly accepting that she wasn't going to be a surgeon like he had secretly hoped, took it upon himself to at least teach her everything he could about general first aid.
Fast-forward several years, when Dahlia was about sixteen. She had a part-time job working under her mother between classes at a vocational school for med students, and she was running some errands. On her way back, she came across an injured Venipede, who was panicked. Unable to leave the small Pokemon alone, she gently approached it. The Venipede panicked and lashed out with a Poison Tail.
Luckily, she managed to avoid the desperate attack and was able to comfort the Venipede. After taking it to the nearest Pokemon Center to heal up and rest for a while, she had noticed that some of the vemon from the Pokemon's tail had attached to her coat. Her curiosity getting the better of her, she carefully took a sample of it and put it under a microscope. That was when she was in for a very pleasant surprise.
Though it would take some effort to extract, this vemon had exactly what she needed to finish a medicine that she and her mother had been working on; one that would, among other things, dramatically reduce the symptoms of fevers. It took a few tries, but she was eventually able to extract and synthesize the components, which quickly led to her mother being able to perfect the medicine.
Once the Venipede was recovered, Dahlia decided to officially catch the Pokemon; the Venipede, in turn, was grateful to Dahlia for taking care of her. Thus, the two bonded quickly, and, with her realizing that there must be other Poison-types who could be utilized in a similar manner, Dahlia's interest in Poison-type Pokemon was officially sparked. This was when she truly started making a name for herself.
At the age of 21, Dahlia had officially completed the necessary classes and passed the test to become a licensed pharmacist and physician with flying colors. It was time to strike out on her own. Though she would have been content to continue where she was, her mother had other ideas. For Dahlia to truly grow and evolve in the medical, she'd need to stand on her own two feet. To that end, she ultimately decided to head to a new region.
She moved to the Sinnoh Region and settled into a small pharmacy in Veilstone City. Functioning as something of a clinic, patients would explain to her what sort of problems were ailing them, and she would provide them with some medicine, which she herself created, for a reasonable price. Naturally, she made sure everything was within the bounds of the laws, though she didn't shy away from bending the rules every now and then; all to benefit her patients, of course.
For the first year or so, she did well enough, managing to make more than enough money to stay afloat. But this wasn't enough. She wanted to study more, but she'd need more money than she was presently making in order to fund those studies. At first, she considered applying to the league to become an aide to the Professor, only for something else to catch her attention; a notice from the League that there was an opening for a new Gym leader there in Veilstone City.
She hadn't considered such a thing, but she did have plenty of experience as a trainer, as she had to train her Pokemon to be strong enough to catch other specimens that she needed for her studies. Her Venipede, in particular, had already evolved into a Whirlipede by that point, and was proving to be quite the battler. Eiter way, the benefits from being associated with the League would undoubtedly be a huge help. Thus, she applied, and to her surprise, actually passed.
Over the next month or so, she eased into the position, working to find the proper balance between working in her clinic and her new position as a gym leader Gym Leader. It took some getting used to, but she eventually managed to find her groove, and began doing quite well for herself. It's been a few years since then, and she's going strong even now; not only is she well-known for her position as a Gym Leader, but her reputation as a skilled pharmacist/physician ensures that there's never a shortage of customers at her clinic. All in all, she can't complain.
POKEMON
>>SPECIES: Scolipede (F)
>>NICKNAME: Shelly
>>PERSONALITY: A no-nonsense Pokemon who is fiercely loyal to Dahlia after being found and rescued by her all those years ago. Being her "signature Pokemon", Shelly is rarely ever not at her trainers side, even outside of battle. Is rather serious, and doesn't have much of a sense of humor.
>>LEVEL: 30
>>ABILITY: Poison Point
>>MOVES: Poison Tail - Bug Bite - Rollout - Iron Defense
>>SPECIES: Tentacruel (M)
>>NICKNAME: Kraken
>>PERSONALITY: A jovial and fun-loving Pokemon. Must to Dahlia's exasperation and Shelly's constant annoyance, he and Arbor are often getting into some mischief together, though it's usually relatively harmless. As much as they enjoy their pranks, they're careful not to take things too far.
>>LEVEL: 30
>>ABILITY: Clear Body
>>MOVES: Water Pulse - Acid - Hex - Reflect Type
>>SPECIES: Trevenant (F)
