CHARACTER NAME HERE IN ALL CAPS
>>NAME: Sol Chance
>>ALIASES: N/A
>>GENDER: Male
>>AGE: Thirteen
>>HEIGHT: 5'6''
>>WEIGHT: 102 lbs.
>>APPEARANCE: Sol is a wiry young man, standing at a modest height that belies a surprising amount of physical strength that was hard won during his rural living. Sol has a mass of untamed, striking red hair that runs wild on his head, a stark contrast to his bright blue eyes. His skin is naturally a healthy peachy color, but he often has a slight tan due to the amount of time he spends outdoors during his travels.
Sol tends to dress simply, if practically. He is not often seen without his old white zip-up jacket, strained and torn by the great outdoors, and that is often accompanied by a plain t-shirt underneath and a pair of torn jeans or sweatpants and a well worn set of hiking boots.
>>PERSONALITY: Sol is a driven young man who knows what he wants and is prepared to do what it takes to get it. Some might call him inconsiderate or selfish in this regard, as Sol has a bad habit on stepping on the toes of others-- be it speaking over them, inconveniencing them in some manner, or otherwise. But this inconsideration extends to himself as well: Sol has a bad habit of pushing himself too far and too hard, often putting himself into danger for the sake of his tireless pursuits. As such, his drive is colored by overconfidence, almost bordering on arrogance.
In a similar vein, Sol also has a very narrow mind when it comes to matters of the world. His mind is rather difficult to change-- once he sets himself to a path or speaks his mind on matters such as morality or promises, it can be all but impossible to dissuade him from his course of action. Socially, he is actually a very outgoing young man but is very active and loud, and while some might find his enthusiasm charming, there will certainly be those who find it abrasive.
Sol has a love for the great outdoors and the sights and sounds of the region that stretches before him, feeling at home with a wide open sky above him. He does not care much for stuffy formalities and finds sanctimonious people to be a bore. Sol truly loves Pokemon and the thrill of Pokemon battles, feeling an intense connection to them and he is willing to go to great lengths for his partners.
>>HISTORY: Sol Chance was born in Celestic Town, his mother a traveling scholar from Canalave City and his father the latest in a long line of Celestic Town apothecaries, a profession that had been practiced by his paternal family for generations. And, much like those on his father's side who came before him, Sol seemed destined to spend his entire life there; his father had every intent of passing on the family craft to Sol and his mother was plenty content to spend the rest of her days studying the deep history of Celestic Town and its connection to the history of the Sinnoh region. And Sol did not care for either. Ever since Sol was young, he felt a sort of unexplainable connection to Pokemon and, on some innate level, was able to understand them as if he were able to speak to them. And while his parents were loathe to allow him to have his own Pokemon at such a young age, Sol quickly befriended many of the other Pokemon in town, taking a keen interest in both the local Pokemon and those of the occasional wandering trainer.
And as Sol grew up, it was these encounters with traveling trainers and their Pokemon that began to form Sol's ambitions. These trainers and their Pokemon awed a young Sol with stories of marvelous sights and pitched battles, of the challenge of the Pokemon League and the wide open world that waited for him beyond the gates of Celestic Town. So, while he grew up and his parents began to school him in a more traditional sense, Sol was making big plans for the outside world. When Sol turned thirteen years old, he used all the money he had saved over the past few months to go to one of the local craftsman and purchase a more traditional-style Pokeball forged from apricorns and snuck out of the town under the cape of night in order to go catch himself his first Pokemon.
It was under the light of a full moon that Sol saw it: a young Gible, all by its lonesome, pacing around at night as if preoccupied by something. Sol's breath caught itself in his throat, his chest barely moving as he crept ever closer to the little dragon. Time seemed to crawl to a standstill as Sol clutched his Pokeball, his palms sweaty. And with a deep breath, Sol threw his ball and his heart nearly leapt out of his throat as the ball made contact with the Gible. Sol's eyes widened as the ball shook and his body trembled. Back and forth it rolled, slowly, trying to bring the tiny dragon to heel. And it did. With a single, soft chime, the Pokeball succeeded: Sol had caught his first Pokemon. With a hearty cheer, Sol rushed over to the ball and retrieved it, dashing home with hope for tomorrow.
It was not so simple.
His parents were waiting for him when he returned home, having discovered his absence at some point, and his father was furious, intending to ground him and take the Pokemon away so that Sol could focus on his studies. But his mother took a softer approach, telling him that all boys left home one day. After some back and forth, Sol's father finally gave in: Sol would be allowed to go on his journey, to see the world beyond Celestic. It was the next day that Sol set off, taking off into the mountains to make for the cities beyond the mountains, his new partner by his side. . .
