PRIMROSE / ESTELLE

>>APPEARANCE: Primrose is a young teenager that stands at a diminutive height of 5'3". Like that of her mother's, her hair is naturally bright pink. She typically opts not to style it in any particular manner, leaving her with cutely messy locks of rose-colored hair. Primrose is slender and could be mistaken for being athletic. In truth, she is relatively weak and incapable of strenuous exercise.
When she appears as "Estelle", Primrose's face is always obscured by a mask of some sort. Typically, she uses a digital mask that uses an emoticon board in order to emote for her in the absence of her facial features. But if one were fortunate enough to see the gym leader unveiled, they'd notice her striking set of golden-colored eyes.
Primrose often keeps a relatively neutral look on her face, which may mislead a person about any true emotions she is experiencing at a given moment.
During day to day activities, Primrose opts for comfortable clothing like skirts and sweaters. As Estelle, she frequently wears elaborate costumes that match her gym theme: viral star.
>>PERSONALITY: First and foremost, Primrose is shy. So much so that when she is not disguised as Estelle, she has great trouble initiating a face-to-face conversation with another person. Primrose is dedicated to never revealing her identity to the public, so she takes extreme measures to make sure that no one knows that she is Estelle.
Aside from this, if someone gets to know Prim, they’d see that she is a very kind and polite young lady who has a fierce passion for befriending Pokemon. She is very nerdy and serious, and prioritizes her work above other things, which sometimes gets in the way of her making friends. Primrose is sensitive, and it doesn’t take much for her feelings to become hurt.
Primrose respects Pokemon in all their capacity, and dedicates a lot of time to trying to become the kindest, best trainer she can be.
Primrose loves hobbies that involve gaming. She appears to be very versed with technology.
>>HISTORY: With extreme social anxiety, young Primrose was unable to live a typical life of a child her age. Instead of attending a Pokemon school like many other kids in Hearthome City, Primrose opted to learn by accompanying her parents to their workplace. Primrose’s mother was a Pokemon researcher and her father was a Potion chemist, so it was no surprise that Primrose took up an interest in Pokemon and the strange science attributed with them. While her parents were hard at work, she dedicated her days to reading books about Pokemon and learning new things about them.
She seemed especially interested in the way they battled and the powers they possessed. But without formal training from a certified Pokemon Academy, Primrose doubted she’d ever be able to become a true trainer.
But regardless of this, Primrose had a strong desire to connect to Pokemon. So she attempted to get to know the closest Pokemon she could find. The laboratory her parents worked in housed a stray, injured Eevee. It was stubborn and aggressive and many of the laboratory workers doubted it would ever be able to be trained. However, a determined Primrose refused to give up on it, and spent the next few years befriending the Eevee. It was quite an undertaking, but it seemed as if the Eevee, whom she’d named Orion, understood Primrose’s good intent. It became her best, and only friend for quite some time.
For such a small Pokemon, Orion had a bombastic personality. It was one that Primrose enamored, so much so that she decided to post videos of its antics while living in the lab onto social media.
Perhaps by a strike of luck, the videos became viral, and suddenly, Primrose gained a platform. Orion enjoyed the spotlight, but wanted Primrose to get in on it, too. It encouraged her to feature herself in her videos as well.
So, after much deliberation and careful calculation, Primrose came up with her persona, “Estelle”. Estelle and Orion had a nice ring to it, she thought. With her face obscured by a piece of paper that had a drawing of her “face”, she began to make videos as Estelle. Many of these videos were tips about how to handle, befriend, and train Pokemon, as well as fact videos about certain species of Pokemon. They also included other things, like singing and dancing with her Pokemon. Her platform continued to explode in popularity.
Orion and Primrose’s bond only tightened, so much so that the stubborn Eevee evolved into a twice as stubborn Sylveon. After this event, her parents quickly realized that their daughter had a talent with Pokemon, and allowed her to do more involved work within the lab. It was then that Primrose was able to handle more Pokemon, and learn more about them. Primrose quickly learned how to battle tactically, and was excellent at the art. She also seemed to learn how to communicate directly with Pokemon, which further aided her learning.
Estelle’s popularity provided Primrose with new opportunities to connect with actual people. She began to compete in local Pokemon tournaments (with her face guised, of course) and dominated the competition. She gained notoriety amongst trainers and coordinators alike.
Within a few more years, Estelle became a household name. Through her persona, Estelle was able to befriend other humans her age she wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. And it was all thanks to Orion.
At the peak of her popularity, after winning many competitions and proving to the League that she was a capable trainer, she was offered to become the Hearthome City Gym Leader-- Gym Leader of her own town! She contemplated, and ultimately accepted the offer. But this new development didn’t come without backlash. There were many trainers who felt that such a young child -- much less, a viral-star-turned-trainer -- was incapable of being a responsible and capable leader. It was Estelle’s duty to prove them wrong.
So, as a newly-appointed gym leader, Estelle brings hearthome city’s vibrant culture into her gym. Her gym’s theme is: “Viral Star”. Before an opponent can battle her, they must traverse through a flashy obstacle course that tests an opponent’s skills with common attributes of viral stars, like singing and dancing. This portion of the contest is streamed online, so one must be able to overcome the notion of possible embarrassment to have a chance at receiving the Hearthome City badge!

>>PERSONALITY: Orion is a self-centered Sylveon who thinks highly of itself. It always wants to be the star of the show within any situation, and isn't afraid of undermining other Pokemon to do so. Orion is Primrose's first Pokemon, and has the closest bond with her.
